A girl is training to be the 1st Indigenous Australian K-pop star
A band you may have never heard of has recently topped Australian streaming charts, breaking records and changing the shape of the Australian musical landscape forever. Not only has this band risen to the top of our streaming charts, but they also look set to smash into ARIA. BTS supergroup: In Australia, the growth of K-pop has led to an increase in enrolments in Korean language classes with many K-pop fans meeting up to practice their Korean language skills with Koreans who are visiting Australia to improve their English. Four years ago, Barom Yu hopped on a plane from Sydney to Seoul. South Korea had a thriving breakdancing scene and the Australian was a keen B-boy, his YouTube tutorials having racked up millions of views. Fed up with his studies at Sydney University, Yu had decided to go to Seoul to check out the scene and connect with his familial roots. He was walking down a street not long after he arrived when a man stopped him and asked how old he was. Then he said, 'Don't be scared, it's not something weird'. So I said OK, so what's this about?
